Hybrid work in a control room: is it feasible?

Yes, hybrid work is possible in a control room. However, it does require good planning and implementation to ensure continuity of activity. So why do it? A hybrid workplace makes people happier, and that is far from the only benefit.

Control room staff are responsible for monitoring and managing complex processes, systems or situations (traffic control, process management, security surveillance, etc.). So there are some tasks that cannot entirely be carried out from home. However, some aspects of the work can indeed be done remotely!

The following factors are important when implementing hybrid work in a control room:

  • reliable technology for communication, data sharing and teamwork;
  • strict security measures;
  • an appropriate division of tasks (to determine which tasks can be done remotely);
  • training and communication;
  • flexible working hours;
