What are the risks of working at a screen?

Sitting still for too long is bad for your health. That’s why we always emphasise the importance of regularly getting up from your sitting position, ideally every 30 minutes. The maximum recommended time to work at a screen is six hours per day.

After all, sitting for a long time in the same position leads to more health problems, such as obesity or heart and circulatory disease. Working in the same position – or the wrong position – for too long means that you will be more prone to problems over time in your back, neck, shoulders, arms and hands.

For office workers, however, there are other health risks associated with working at the computer for long periods as well. They are more likely to suffer from eye problems such as dry or tired eyes. Headaches and neck pain, often caused by poor posture, are also frequent complaints. Last but not least, working at the computer can also increase the risk of mental health problems such as overload and stress.
